The zoo of copenhagen is one of the oldest zoological gardens in Europe. It was founded in 1859. At the opening visitors could contemplate mainly birds since the founder was an ornithologist. The Zoo is open 365 days a year. The Copenhagen Zoo is involved in a number of nature conservation projects in Malaysia, Brazil and Denmark and other countries around the globe. There are zoologists carrying out research projects about genetics, behaviour and nature conservation.
